Writing a Book? – Why The Journey Can Be Empowering

empowerment, confidenceIt feels empowering to complete a project that requires expansion into new territories. Anything that gets you out of your comfort zone can wake you up to a whole new world.

I am in the process now of finishing up the publication process of my first book. I’ve always known since childhood that I would someday become an “official” author by having books published and even then my intention was that I would have something of importance to connect with my readers on, at a meaningful, empowering level.

I used to pretend that I had books published by making up fiction stories in spiral bound little notebooks. Little did I realize as a young child, that when it comes to writing on topics that empower, it is very common to have to have had life experiences that required me to personally experience the difference between feeling confident and empowered or feeling like a victim, or having a low sense of self-esteem.

As I look back now at my journey of coming through the fires of life and overcoming the challenges, I now see why there can be a time and season for everything under the sun. I realize that it is not what happens to one in life that determines the outcome of their story, but how one responds to life’s challenges that makes the difference.

I decided years ago, that as long as Spirit gave me life in my body and I had my functioning mind and health, I was going to keep moving and reach a place where I felt empowered to love my life and make a difference. When I was inspired to write my first official book on my journey to empowerment, one that brings science and spirituality together, left-brain meets right-brain, I did not realize just how much I would grow from the experience. Why?

Well, I had to look even deeper at a variety of seemingly unrelated issues. While it takes courage to look at emotional issues, you cannot heal what you refuse to feel. Coming from a place of authentic personal power requires both courage and humility.

I’ve found that the fear of emotions is just yet another illusion, another boogieman under the bed. The point is, when we learn to stop hiding out and keep ourselves open to grow, life can continue to feel like an adventure instead of just another day of surviving problems.

So, as I’ve gotten more into the flow of life, I’ve been able to move from eye surgeon to helping in particular female entrepreneurs and maverick professionals to empower up by healing the blind spots that hold them back. You and I already possess inside all the creative power that we need to take the next step on the journey to the destinations that most appeal to us to experience an exciting life.

The question is, what have you thought about lately? What you want, or what you are fearful of and want to avoid? Hint: focusing on fear will not empower you! Any thoughts to share?
