Confidence is sorely needed with all of the change going on around us. Many people fear losing their jobs, not because they love what they do, but they fear change and worry about worse case scenarios. Wouldn’t it be great to jump out of bed on Monday morning with passion in your heart for what you will be doing?
This is what passion can do for you. When we are passionate about what we do it does not feel like “work”, it feels more like play. You could actually feel like “wow, you mean I can get paid for doing what I enjoy?” Yes, and all things really are possible – if you believe.
In our society, from the time we start kindergarten, we start hearing “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. I made sure I avoided asking my children this, as I did not want them to feel pressured to feel that they had to decide whether or not be a “doctor, lawyer or Indian chief” by the time they were seven. There’s no condemnation if you do this, just realize that we are unfolding as we grow. Wouldn’t it be great if we could learn to grow with the flow instead of presetting early on what we “should” be doing with our lives? To have the confidence to follow our hearts?
I did however encourage my children to love whatever they chose and to do it with all their heart. I emphasize to do whatever they do with excellence and to avoid perfectionism. I also remind myself of this also. In any moment, passion can be cultivated by being present to what you are doing, and to at the very least accept what you are doing and do your best.
You may find yourself feeling stuck, but the way out of your present job or situation is to be proactive today. Each day is an opportunity to build energy toward leading you to your passion. The energy that you do things in now is setting you up for the future, so at the very least accept where you are and stop putting out the energy of resistance.
I know as about 12-15 years ago, I felt overwhelmed with all of the responsibility I was carrying. And it was not so much what I was doing as it was HOW I was thinking, my perception about what I did. I tended to focus on what was missing or wrong with my world. As I grew spiritually, my eyes began to open and my vision for my life shifted. I begin to consciously focus on what I could give versus what was in it for me. Now it is important to expect to receive and to do so with appreciation – and not out of “getting consciousness” which fosters feelings of lack. I am not into martyrdom.
I started asking Spirit to change my heart or feelings, and began to focus more on gratitude. As I took these baby steps, my belief in what was possible began to shift and the vision for my life expanded. We are all capable of so much more than we presently do. It is a matter of learning to release negative conditioning, opening our minds to accept change and going inside to release the courage, confidence and power that is to be rediscovered from within. Go ahead; begin to let your light –and life- shine. Your passion will only grow and overflow into your daily living.
